Well, as most of you know my sweet baby girl turned a year old last week. It is truly amazing how fast time goes...either that or a year is really not that long! Presley is a great kid. Here are some facts about her
-great sense of humor
-goofy
-loves to look at books (obsessive about it at times!)
-loves to ride in her wagon she got for her bday (if I don't go, she motions forward and backward to try and make it go)
-watch Baby Einstein,
-says "hi", "kitty", "dog", "amen", "dada", "mama" (not often of course), "squirrel" (her new one), and all sorts of baby babble that apparently makes sense to her
-her new thing is to pick up things and hand them to me saying "ahhtee"...not sure what it means, but it's cute!
-she walks around all the furniture as fast as can be, but won't pull herself up on any of it, won't crawl, and doesn't roll from her stomach to her back...which I will tell you more about shortly
-she LOVES Rubi (our chocolate lab) and screams at the top of her lungs when she's around
-she gives the snuggliest hugs and the sloppiest kisses
I could go on and on! She's my "bug bugs" as I like to call her.
We have been VERY blessed with a happy, healthy little girl. I think about our baby Rebekah and I appreciate Presley all the more. It's amazing to me how much more I value her life than if we hadn't lost our first. I thank God for Presley every day. I truly do not take her for granted and I am thankful for the reminder of how precious life is.
For any new moms or expectant moms, my rave about parenting is Baby Wise...yes yes the controversial book about raising a child. It is wonderful! It is practical. And it makes complete sense when you use common sense. Check it out!
That being said, Presley has slept through the night since 8 weeks. Parenting has honestly not been "I'm so exhausted I can't see straight", something I hear so many people discussing when a baby is soon to arrive. I can't relate to that feeling, and I'm grateful! HOWEVER...back to not rolling from her stomach to her back...she has decided to sleep on her tummy now (I think she's been doing this for a few months). Two times now she has woke up in the middle of the night screaming bloody murder because she can't roll over to her back. SERIOUSLY?! She is a YEAR old!!!!!! It is RIDICULOUS!! I'm trying to figure out some sort of game to help her get it. I was not very happy with her at 1am and 3am. It's a good thing she has a pretty heart breaking cry to get me to soften up. Silly girl. Oh the joys!
Overall, this past year has been one of the best years of my entire life. It of course wouldn't be possible without the other "best year of my life", Matt. He's the love of my life and always will be. Thank you Lord for the life you've given me.
**Advice for the day**
Happiness is a choice. When you are feeling sorry for yourself, grumpy for no reason, or just down in the dumps depressed, CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY. You'll feel alot better about yourself and the world around you.
HAPPY TUESDAY!
