Howdy!
1) Diet
Doing pretty good with healthy living! Hurray! Still a little slow on the weightloss but some is better than none! My overall solution to munching is to eat fresh fruit and veggies. Yum. I think my body finally adjusted to less junk. YAY!
2) Kid friendly meal (veggies included!).
Spaghetti - who doesn't like it? Trick: puree or finely chop a soft veggie and put it in the sauce. I used raw yellow squash and zucchini. I cannot believe how much of it Presley ate. Her little belly hung way over her diaper and she acted like she was starved she gobbled it so fast. I put her servings on an 8 inch plate. The spaghetti covered the entire bottom and it was mounded. I put a few spoonfools at a time on her tray and she ended up eating the entire plateful! OINK OINK! She barely weighs 19lbs and she's almost 16 months! Where does she put it?
3) Camping Trailer
We bought an old Sprite camping trailer this past spring. We're working on remodeling it. It's gutted out right now and the boys have been working on the priorities (walls, windows, electric). I've been thinking about what I'd like to do with the interior. I need your opinions! Here are your choices:
a) Soft, sunny yellow walls accented with lime green and white
b) Rustic browns accented (maybe) with a dark grayish blue plaid and white
c) Mismatched original looking, true-to-old-trailer-style

Ups and Downs
Wow, I'm a lazy blogger.
My stab at weight loss is up and down. I'm a bit discouraged, but still fighting to keep at it. I seriously feel like I work really hard and get no where. I started something a bit different as the "diet" wasn't as practical as I had hoped. The foods are still great and I'm incorporating it into my daily life, but just not as strict as I started with. Some of my family members shared this http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ with me and I really like it. It has EVERY food you can imagine, including restaurants, fast food, and store brands. It's all free, you just have to start an account - enter your goal weight with current weight, height, dob, etc and it will tell you your calorie allotment for one day. You log your food daily and it counts the calories for you. I used to think I was good at counting calories on my own, but apparently that skill wore off since the scale hasn't budged. I'm trying this to keep me more accountable. I like it so far (I'm on day 2!). My ONLY issue is that everyone says to eat no less that 1200 calories a day. I know that's a fair number, but I seriously will only lose .8lbs a week at a time (read that again...there is a decimal in front of that 8)! I am so impatient. I guess that means I have to ramp up my exercise. WHINE WHINE WHINE. I love to be active, but I hate exercise...lol. That sounds ridiculous, but it makes sense to me. Does it make sense to you? Hope so.
Here are a few things that I'm constantly reminding myself of , maybe they'll help you too:
1) Sweets...if you have to eat them (like I do, esp chocolate) then take time to do it. Get a cup of tea or coffee (or milk) and SIT DOWN, relax and enjoy the treat. Savor every bite and sip your drink in between. This helps me to avoid binging on gobs of junk.
2) What do I want to look like? Is the amount on my plate (or the amount that I want to eat) worth it?
3) Pray. Have I asked God to help me?
4) Just go outside. Walk around, take a leisurely bike ride, or go swimming at the lake with friends (or family). Make it something enjoyable (here is the difference between being active and exercising).
5) This is the HARDEST one for me. Don't eat after 7pm. UGH. I hate this one. Matt sits down at 8:00 with chips and salsa, or a bowl of cereal and I want to crumble. Why am I so addicted to food? It's so stupid!! Mind over matter on this one.
Good luck friends!
Please leave me your tips and insights too! We're all in it together!
PS. I broke down and bought a mom suit. Maybe next summer.

Yummy In The Shrinking Tummy
Tomorrow marks the first week of my "diet". I hate calling it that because diets fail. I guess I could word it "healthy living". So far I've really enjoyed the process. I think having some guidelines has helped me stay on track. When I've lost weight before I did my own thing and didn't eat much. It was a constant battle to not put food in my mouth because I was eating so little. This has been enjoyable and well worth the effort.
The Food
Today for lunch I had the following:
Panzanella White Bean Salad
My changes:
Used croutons, fresh basil (I don't recommend for this, it was too overpowering), great northern beans
It was quite yummy and I will have it again! Tonight I am going to make burgers on the grill with grilled parmesan zucchini (sprinkle parmesan cheese on wedges and melt).
The Workout
Saturday I did my resistance band workout but it was way too hot for me to get outside to run. Sorry! Not gonna do it in the heat and humidity! Which leads me to my next news - we are talking about getting a swimming pool! It's not going to be anything fancy or big, but it would be another way to exercise in the heat. No laps though, just circles! lol. We found a great deal on Craigslist so hopefully it will work out. I think it will be a blast for Presley as well as the other new moms who live nearby. Another reason to get my booty in shape!
Today I'm supposed to do my bands and cardio again. I wish it wasn't so hot! I need to at least try to go for a walk. Maybe when Matt does P90X tonight it will give me some motivation.
Now for the fun news...drum roll please....
I've lost 2 pounds already! WOOT WOOT!
Let's just end on that positive note!
Have a wonderful week friends!

To The Point
Here We Go
Enough complaining and wishing. The time has come for me to kick it in high gear! We were camping this past weekend and I was sitting around the fire stuffing my face with hotdogs, s'mores, and cheese puffs reading a FITNESS magazine. Pathetic? No, RIDICULOUS! I normally could give two hoots about someone's suggested diet or workout (I always try my own healthy eating and/or exercise routine), but the one in the mag caught my attention. It seemed practical, and the article was called Beach Body Bootcamp. Folks - I have NEVER had a beach body and I've always dreamed of it. I thought...I'm the only one keeping myself from accomplishing this dream (as shallow as it might seem). So here is my starting point. If you want to join me, check out http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/ and sign up for the Beach Body Bootcamp. It's kind of fun because you can log your workouts and meals. The handy dandy chart will tell you if you're hitting your goals or not. The only downside is within the diet portion. The only foods to chose from to calculate your calories is from their menu. I usually just pick an item that comes close to the calories of whatever I ate that isn't listed. I do like the fact that you can also select how many servings you ate. So, say I had a 70 calorie snack of my own choice and their snacks are 150 calories, I just chose 1/2 a serving and the calories are close enough.
Ok...so what did I do this week?
The Workout
This portion is half resistance bands and half cardio. I do the resistance bands exactly how they recommend it and I do them all. The cardio is all for the treadmill, spin bike, or elliptical and while I have the treadmill and elliptical WHO wants to be inside this time of year?? NOT ME! So, I just take the recommended times and do it to running and walking (and for this week and probably most of the time I cut it back to 20-30 minutes). I want it to be realistic, so if one day I decide a bike ride sounds good, I'm not going to force myself to run. For Pete's sake, doing something is better than what I was doing (aka nothing)!!
The Diet
I have an advantage here. I love to eat healthy foods! I picked 2-3 ideas from bfast, lunch, dinner and bought the ingredients I would need. My favorite so far is quite simple:
Spinach Salad with Chicken, Strawberries, Walnuts and Goat Cheese
KEEP READING...I'll tell you what I did differently incase you're already thinking negative things!
So, take what you want from what I'm doing. The point I'm making to myself and hopefully to others who are wanting to see change is just do SOMETHING, no matter how small it may seem, it will make a difference.
Yours Truly,

A Little Bit-A This, A Little Bit-A That
My Sweet Rebekah
This past Tuesday would have been my sweet Rebekah's 2nd birthday! It's so hard to believe that two years have gone by. Last year I had a 1 month old and so Rebekah's 1st birthday was actually filled with alot of joy and happiness as we enjoyed our healthy little Presley! This year was actually a bit different. I was surprised that I was a little bit sadder. It wasn't unbearable or anything, just a downer (although on the very same day we learned that our good friends would bury another child in less than 2 years so that made the tears flow without a problem). I definitely hugged Presley a little more and alot tighter. I thanked God for her more than the usual and I praised Him for allowing her to be in my life. Children are a gift from God. They are miracles that we should never, ever take for granted.
My Ongoing Struggle
I swore I would never gain the weight that I worked so hard to lose a few years back. I have been so frustrated that I have to work at this again. I know exactly what has to happen and yet I can't seem to do it. I'm not sure what my problem is. I can't figure out if I just don't want it bad enough or I don't want to work for it or maybe both. Not good. Why don't I want it bad enough to make the change? It's not healthy to criticize myself everytime I look in the mirror. I've been there before and all it did was make me hate myself and end up with a nasty eating disorder (exercise bulimia). Sometimes I wonder if part of it is because I've felt content with myself for so long that I just plain forget to do what has to be done. I can't find the daily motivation that it takes...and I guarantee that if I don't have that determination every minute of the day, it's going to be repeat failure. I have a good day/bad day pattern and it always equals failure. UGH. So, if you're reading this and you know what's missing, please tell me. I want success again. I despise, hate, detest, abhor, loathe (you get it) this circle of letdown.
Friends
I have the most amazing circle of friends. I love them so much. We are all beginning the adventure of parenthood and I'm so stinkin' excited that we get to share it! The best part about my friends is that their relationship with God is high priority so we keep each other going through open conversation, encouragement and prayer. We have heart-to-heart talks and then we laugh until we turn blue. We can have a glass of wine (or 2) and talk about our marriages (including ALL aspects)...and then of course laugh some more. I just couldn't ask for better people in my life. I am soooo soo blessed to have people to rely on that honestly care. That's hard to come by these days. THANK YOU FRIENDS! I LOVE YOU!!
We're off for the long weekend to camp. Hurray for camping season! Here's hoping for decent weather...for me that means 60/70's and no humidity or rain!! haha...not looking too good! Oh well! It's a break from routine and I'll take it!
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

Provision
Money, Money, Money, Money. What do you feel when you see that word? Is it a negative feeling? Positive? Think about it.
Let me guess your answer - it depends on how much I have. Was I right? lol. I understand, really I do!
So, this year Matt and I were able to pay off all our debt, minus our house of course. It was a HUGE blessing and answer to prayer. We had big plans to save save save, fix some things up, and breath *a little* (mind you, we're on one income!...by choice). BUT, of course. as the world turns, SOMETHING is bound to happen! And today it did.
POOP ON VEHICLES!!!!!!!!!
My first reaction was to complain, whine, cry, stomp my feet and scream at the top of my lungs. Then I thought about it from a bigger perspective...God provides. Had he not given us the ability to pay some debts off, or helped us to sell our pop up camper this past weekend, we would be completely up a creek. Thank you Lord for providing. Yes, it still kinda stinks and I can guarantee the money we are putting into my jeep could be spent in a much more fun way (or saved), but we are not going to be drowning in unpayable debt. THANK YOU LORD.
So, what in your life is frustrating you? Keeping you down? Making you feel helpless? Can you see some good coming from it? Can you see how it could have been (or be) worse?
When we put our trust and hope in God, He will and does provide. It's amazing. He's a pretty cool God...and He figures things out so well for us.
PROVISION - think about it. Find how it's present in your life, and if you can't see it ASK GOD to do it. Oh, and HANG IN THERE!! Keep your chin up! That's what I'm telling myself today!

A Little Life
Well, as most of you know my sweet baby girl turned a year old last week. It is truly amazing how fast time goes...either that or a year is really not that long! Presley is a great kid. Here are some facts about her
-great sense of humor
-goofy
-loves to look at books (obsessive about it at times!)
-loves to ride in her wagon she got for her bday (if I don't go, she motions forward and backward to try and make it go)
-watch Baby Einstein,
-says "hi", "kitty", "dog", "amen", "dada", "mama" (not often of course), "squirrel" (her new one), and all sorts of baby babble that apparently makes sense to her
-her new thing is to pick up things and hand them to me saying "ahhtee"...not sure what it means, but it's cute!
-she walks around all the furniture as fast as can be, but won't pull herself up on any of it, won't crawl, and doesn't roll from her stomach to her back...which I will tell you more about shortly
-she LOVES Rubi (our chocolate lab) and screams at the top of her lungs when she's around
-she gives the snuggliest hugs and the sloppiest kisses
I could go on and on! She's my "bug bugs" as I like to call her.
We have been VERY blessed with a happy, healthy little girl. I think about our baby Rebekah and I appreciate Presley all the more. It's amazing to me how much more I value her life than if we hadn't lost our first. I thank God for Presley every day. I truly do not take her for granted and I am thankful for the reminder of how precious life is.
For any new moms or expectant moms, my rave about parenting is Baby Wise...yes yes the controversial book about raising a child. It is wonderful! It is practical. And it makes complete sense when you use common sense. Check it out!
That being said, Presley has slept through the night since 8 weeks. Parenting has honestly not been "I'm so exhausted I can't see straight", something I hear so many people discussing when a baby is soon to arrive. I can't relate to that feeling, and I'm grateful! HOWEVER...back to not rolling from her stomach to her back...she has decided to sleep on her tummy now (I think she's been doing this for a few months). Two times now she has woke up in the middle of the night screaming bloody murder because she can't roll over to her back. SERIOUSLY?! She is a YEAR old!!!!!! It is RIDICULOUS!! I'm trying to figure out some sort of game to help her get it. I was not very happy with her at 1am and 3am. It's a good thing she has a pretty heart breaking cry to get me to soften up. Silly girl. Oh the joys!
Overall, this past year has been one of the best years of my entire life. It of course wouldn't be possible without the other "best year of my life", Matt. He's the love of my life and always will be. Thank you Lord for the life you've given me.
**Advice for the day**
Happiness is a choice. When you are feeling sorry for yourself, grumpy for no reason, or just down in the dumps depressed, CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY. You'll feel alot better about yourself and the world around you.
HAPPY TUESDAY!
